Questions about palliative care

Is palliative care the same as hospice?

No. All hospice includes palliative care, but palliative care can start much earlier, at any stage of a serious illness, and alongside treatment meant to cure or control it.

Do I have to stop my treatment?

No. You can keep your chemotherapy, dialysis, or other treatments. Palliative care focuses on easing symptoms and side effects so you feel better along the way.

Who is palliative care for?

People living with a serious or chronic illness such as heart failure, advanced cancer, COPD, or dementia, especially if symptoms are affecting daily life or leading to hospital visits.

Will I still see my regular doctors?

Yes. Our team coordinates with your primary care doctor and specialists, so everyone is working from the same plan.

What if I need hospice later?

If the time comes, the transition is simple because you already know us. Many patients move from our palliative care program into hospice with the same familiar faces.
